Welcome

This is a just a fun side project that I've created to to track my favorite TV shows and share recommendations with friends and family.

This site is built with Backdrop CMS and uses the Trakt TV module I created to access information about the TV shows from https://trakt.tv/.

Each show comes with an official summary from Trakt TV. My comments, if any, are in the left column of each shows page. I have not put personal comments on all the shows.

Some of my favorite shows are.

Trakt TV summary:

Amidst the political conflict of Northern Ireland in the 1990s, five secondary school students square off with the universal challenges of being a teenager.

Tim's score (1 - 100): 85

Tim's Thoughts:

Fun show, set in a time and place we don't see much of.

Trakt TV summary:

Meet the most beloved sitcom horse of the 90s - 20 years later. BoJack Horseman was the star of the hit TV show "Horsin' Around," but today he's washed up, living in Hollywood, complaining about everything, and wearing colorful sweaters.

Tim's score (1 - 100): 91

Tim's Thoughts:

I was very suprised about the depth of this show. Avoided it for years, but when I finally took the time to watch it, I loved it. I removed the "Comedy" tag from this show, because it's more of an animated drama to me.

Trakt TV summary:

A behind-the-scenes look at a fictional sketch-comedy TV show.

Tim's score (1 - 100): 91

Tim's Thoughts:

I loved this show when it came out and rewatched the entire series at least once. So disappointed that it did not catch on. This was the show that made me into an Aaron Sorkin fan.

It's all about the dialogue.

Trakt TV summary:

CIA officer Carrie Mathison is tops in her field despite being bipolar, which makes her volatile and unpredictable. With the help of her long-time mentor Saul Berenson, Carrie fearlessly risks everything, including her personal well-being and even sanity, at every turn.

Tim's score (1 - 100): 93

Tim's Thoughts:

Very much liked this show. Gritty and realistic (at least plausible) in a TV sort of way.

Trakt TV summary:

With his straw hat and ragtag crew, young pirate Monkey D. Luffy goes on an epic voyage for treasure.

Tim's score (1 - 100): 85

Tim's Thoughts:

I removed this one from the Sciene Fiction category, because this show is comic book fantasy. Or, more accurately, Manga (I think). I think this show takes a kinda silly comic book fantasy and does a brilliant job of creating a live action version of it. I very much enjoyed this show, having very little knowledge of and no alligience to the source material. I don't know if Manga fans will like this show, but it your willing to put yourself into a comic book world, you may find this show to be a excellent adventure. Season 2 came out recently, but I've not yet had time to watch.

Trakt TV summary:

Walter White, a New Mexico chemistry teacher, is diagnosed with Stage III cancer and given a prognosis of only two years left to live. He becomes filled with a sense of fearlessness and an unrelenting desire to secure his family's financial future at any cost as he enters the dangerous world of drugs and crime.

Tim's score (1 - 100): 95

Tim's Thoughts:

It's been a while. But, I agree with the rest of the world. This show is excellent.

Trakt TV summary:

Retired Detective Inspector Alex Ridley is lured back into service as a consultant detective when his former protégée, Carol Farman, needs help cracking a complex murder case.

Tim's score (1 - 100): 88

Tim's Thoughts:

This show can be a bit slow and dry, but that is also part of the appeal. The main charater is a detective and amateur jazz singer, I'm down for that. I'm not sure if everyone will like his singing, but I kinda dig it.

I still haven't finished all available episodes, but from time to time I find myself craving more of the main character in this show. I'll have to go back and watch more sometime soon.

Trakt TV summary:

Comedy thriller about two well-meaning idiots who become entangled in a hideous world of crime, conspiracy and corruption.

Tim's score (1 - 100): 90

Tim's Thoughts:

This was such a pleasant surprise and my first introduction to James Corden. An underrated show that deserves more attention. If you like quirkly comedies about things gone wrong, I think you'll like this one.

Trakt TV summary:

Set in 1960-1970 New York, this sexy, stylized and provocative drama follows the lives of the ruthlessly competitive men and women of Madison Avenue advertising.

Tim's score (1 - 100): 90

Tim's Thoughts:

It's been a while and I can't think of much to say, except that I really enjoyed the show while I watched it. Well written and extremely well produced.

Trakt TV summary:

A single-camera ensemble comedy following the lives of an eclectic group of detectives in a New York precinct, including one slacker who is forced to shape up when he gets a new boss.

Tim's score (1 - 100): 92

Tim's Thoughts:

This is probably one of my top 10 sitcoms of all time. There are some cold opens from episodes of this show I will watch over and over again on Youtube. I don't know what more to say than that this show very much taps into my sense of humor and is well written and performed to excel at making me laugh out loud.

Trakt TV summary:

On a college campus, an author navigates a complicated relationship with his daughter.

Tim's score (1 - 100): 87

Tim's Thoughts:

I started this show after I had just finished the series finale of Hacks on HBO and thought I might have found something to replace it. However, as I got further into the show I began to find it a bit too sappy for me. For me this show is similar in many ways to the Apple show Shrinking. I love the characters, I love the dense and witty dialogue, and their personal drama pulls at my heartstrings for a while. But, the show becomes a bit predictable in that you know that for all their flaws, all the characters will eventually do the right thing and everyone will find their way to neat and happy ending.

Trakt TV summary:
