Title Year Tim's Personal Notes Tim's Score
Sherlock 2010 Simply stated, one of my favorite shows of all time. 99
Severance 2022 One of my favorite all time shows. A bit weird and one I sometimes hesitate to recommend. I just finished season two and and am very much excited for season three. Very interesting and fresh. 97
Star Wars: Andor 2022 When I first saw the original Star Wars, I remember thinking about all the other fascinating stories that must have happened in that Galaxy, stories we will never hear about. 40 years later, we're starting to hear some of those stories and Andor is by far my favorite. It is potentially the best quality, writing and production, of any Star Wars show or movie that has been made. It's unfortunate how much the politics of the empire resembles the actual politics in the US today. Very well written and cast.  So many fascinating charaters, in particular the character of Dedra Meero. I hope that Denise Gough got awards for this performance. Very sad to hear that this is the final season. But, I guess we only had a limited time frame to work with. I hope we'll see more stories like this one. 96
The Expanse 2015 96
Better Call Saul 2015 I don't know what to say. It's been a while now since I watched, but this is such a well made show. One of my favorites. 96
Breaking Bad 2008 It's been a while. But, I agree with the rest of the world. This show is excellent. 95
The Bear 2022 95
Patriot 2015 This is definitely on my list of the top 10 most under appreciated shows. Very unique (and hilarious) sense of dark humor.  95
Louie 2010 Went into this show expecting a sitcom and was disappointed. Once I accepted that this is not a comedy, I fell in love with the show. It was a very funny show that took some very unexpected turns and went places I never expected it would go. It's sentimental, it's funny, and it's at times very serious.  93
Foundation 2021 Classic book I read in my teens. I'm hesitate to recommend this to anyone that is not a hard core, old school, sci-fi fan. It's a lot and the story is sometimes hard to follow, as it spans generations. But, it's a wonderfully made and visually inspiring production. I'm looking forward to the the third season. 93
Homeland 2011 Very much liked this show. Gritty and realistic (at least plausible) in a TV sort of way. 93
Deadwood 2004 93
The Last of Us 2023 I never expected such a powerful and well made series to come out of a video game. Would have ignored this show had it not been for the positive word-of-mouth it was getting. Season 2 is now out, but I'm a bit afraid to watch it or at least never quite in right the mood to re-enter this world, expecting it to be a bit of a downer (but for all the right reasons).  93
Peaky Blinders 2013 So many things I love about this gritty gangster show from a historical period that doesn't get a lot of attention. I love the visuals and the use of music. Fascinating characters that are well developed. The details of how the Peaky Blinders present themselves really drew me in, their hair styles and even the way they walked. Very well done. 92
Slow Horses 2022 A recent find. I was late to this show, but love it. Looks like at least two more seasons on the way. (Dec 12, 2024) 91
House of the Dragon 2022 I'm a big fan of this Game of Thrones prequel. I may like it even more than the original series, at least in part because there are more dragons. 91
BoJack Horseman 2014 I was very suprised about the depth of this show. Avoided it for years, but when I finally took the time to watch it, I loved it. I removed the "Comedy" tag from this show, because it's more of an animated drama to me.  91
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip 2006 I loved this show when it came out and rewatched the entire series at least once. So disappointed that it did not catch on. This was the show that made me into an Aaron Sorkin fan.  It's all about the dialogue. 91
Game of Thrones 2011 I did not love the books and didn't get into the first season or two of the TV show very much. But as the series went on and as I rewatched the earlier seasons, I began to appreciate them more. By the end of the series, I was a huge fan and admirerer of the show. Yes, the quality diminished a bit in the last season, but I was on board and let it take me where it wanted to go and accepted it and loved it for what it was, rather than some expectations I projected onto it in advance. Highly recommend it, IF your into this kind of show. 91
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power 2022 90
Mad Men 2007 It's been a while and I can't think of much to say, except that I really enjoyed the show while I watched it. Well written and extremely well produced. 90
Battlestar Galactica 2004 90
Fargo 2014 90
Silo 2023 Recently finished season two. My favorite show ever about people living underground in a Silo. Highly recommend it if you like serious post apocalyptic shows. Better than most, in my opinion. 90
Dead to Me 2019 Brilliant dark comedy. Love it, but felt like it lost steam by the final season. 89
The West Wing 1999 It's a bit sappy and idealistic at times, but in the best kind of way. I've watched the entire series at least 3 times, with different people each time. You can learn something about politics from this show and about people. 89
Succession 2018 89
Ridley 2022 This show can be a bit slow and dry, but that is also part of the appeal. The main charater is a detective and amateur jazz singer, I'm down for that. I'm not sure if everyone will like his singing, but I kinda dig it. 88
The Wheel of Time 2021 Read the Books and am very much enjoying the show. Hoping that they don't cut us off in the middle of the story. 88
Obi-Wan Kenobi 2022 I love how well this fits into the Star Wars saga. Did an unexpectedly good job of setting up Star Wars IV.  88
